Kara DioGuardi is a Los Angeles-based artist, songwriter, and producer, and her songs have been recorded by scores of major label artists. She co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s “Walk Away” (a Top 15 song on the Hot 100 Billboard charts), as well as Clarkson’s next single “Gone.” Other current singles include “Beep” (a Top 15 song on the Hot 100 Billboard charts), co-written with Will.I.Am for the Pussycat Dolls, Ashlee Simpson’s hits “L.O.V.E.” (a Top 10 airplay song) and “Boyfriend” ( a Top 20 Hot 100 Record); and Bo Bice’s eponymous song “The Real Thing.” Kara also co-wrote the first Santana single “I’m Feeling You,” featuring Michelle Branch, as well as the forthcoming single “Cry Baby Cry,” featuring Sean Paul and Joss Stone.

Recently, Kara’s single “Rich Girl” (Top 5 Hot 100 record) recorded by Gwen Stefani was chosen for a Pepsi commercial and the MGM film Pink Panther. Kara also co-wrote the single "Pieces Of Me" (#1 Pop Airplay record) on the Ashlee Simpson LP Autobiography (which entered the Billboard album chart at #1 and has now reached 5x Platinum worldwide), as well as the follow-up singles “Shadow” and “La La.” Her eponymous title “Autobiography” was the theme song for Ashlee’s television show on MTV. She also co-wrote all the songs on Ashlee’s sophomore album, I Am Me, (which entered the charts at #1). For Kelly Clarkson’s LP Breakaway, (which is 5x Platinum in the US alone), Kara co-wrote 6 songs. She has contributed to each of Hilary Duff’s multi-platinum #1 records, including the singles “Fly” and “Come Clean,” which was a Top Ten radio hit and television theme song for Laguna Beach. She also has 2 songs on Hilary Duff’s current multi-platinum Most Wanted album, including “Supergirl” (featured in a Candies’ commercial). Previously, Kara has enjoyed the success of other hit singles “Escape” (Top Ten Hot 100 record) and “Don’t Turn Off the Lights” for Enrique Iglesias; "The Way" for Clay Aiken; and “I’ve Got You” for Marc Anthony.

Kara has also co-written hit European singles for such artists as Celine Dion, Anastacia, Delta Goodrem, and Thalia. Kara brought Kylie Minogue back into the international spotlight with the #1 UK and Australian hit single “Spinning Around.” For Delta Goodrem, Kara co-wrote the Top Ten single “Unpredictable” and the #1 Australian hit "Not Me, Not I." Kara also had a #4 hit in the UK with Martine McCutcheon’s “I’ve Got You,” as well as a Top Ten hit in the UK with "Shut Up" by Kelly Osbourne and with “Kinda Love” by Darius. Most recently, she and Eros Ramazzotti co-wrote “I Belong to You” for Anastacia, which was a #1 radio single in Europe.

Kara currently has a catalogue of over 500 songs. In 2004/2005, Kara had a total of 106 songs released; 55 of those appeared on multi-platinum selling albums.

Ms. DioGuardi was the only writer to be honored by BMI at both its 2003 Pop Awards (for Enrique Iglesias's Top Ten Record Escape) and the 2003 Film & TV Awards (for the theme song to the TV show For The People). She also won two BMI Pop Awards in 2006 for “Pieces of Me” (Ashlee Simpson) and “Rich Girl” (Gwen Stefani).

Her songs have been utilized in numerous TV commercials, including Candie’s (Hilary Duff’s “Supergirl”), Dell (Cherie’s “I’m Ready”), Chrysler (Celine Dion’s “One Heart”), Bally’s (Jessica Simpson’s “A Little Bit”), Thermasilk (Ashlee Simpson’s “La La”), and Doritos (Enrique’s “Don’t Turn Off the Lights”). Kara has co-written and recorded themes for TV shows, such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Ellen DeGeneres, Laguna Beach, Jack & Bobby, and Smallville, among others. Kara’s background differs from that of most songwriters. Ms. DioGuardi graduated from Duke University in 1992. Upon moving to New York, she worked at Billboard magazine – ultimately becoming one of Billboard's top sales managers. Shortly thereafter, Kara began her career in songwriting and production.

In 2005, Kara formed Platinum Weird, a rock group with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics’ fame. Platinum Weird’s debut single “Happiness” is due to be released by Interscope Records this spring.
