”Wide Eyed Girl” is from Eurythmics’ classic 1988 video album “Savage”, released several months after the CD of the same title. The video seems to be a statement about parent-child relationships, rebellion, loss, and regret. In a series of rapid fire images set to the hypnotic arrangement of the song, Annie Lennox plays a character who meets a man, marries him, and has a child who grows into a rebellious teenager, causing her mother a lot of grief. It’s all rather affecting in a strange way, and the song itself ends up being one of Eurythmics more aggressive moments on record.
